If Epic enables players control money for their creations, they will probably work tirelessly to pump their maps or items to sell to one another. Okay, they probably couldn't promote a Mario Kart class or re-creations from other games (like this Link), but gamers are already interested in what their counterparts are creating. They have asked Epic for functionality to save and share their obstacle courses and structures for other people to experience.

And if the studio expands the game's imaginative toolset, the neighborhood could sell different things they already (indirectly) spend real money on, such as personality skins or weapons. This might be quite rewarding for Epic, also: Between 2011 and ancient 2015, Steam Workshop founders selling mods, cosmetics as well as other extras brought $57 million. Since content manufacturers get just a 25% cut of the selling price, that signifies Valve pocketed $171 million. (Hopefully Epic would honor its payment commitments to founders, something Valve has not consistently done.)

Even if the permanent Playground style came out largely unchanged from its first test version, creators could still probably make a mint on customized maps. But there is nothing stopping Epic from incorporating plenty of pseudo-developer tools to tweak environmental effects and world variables. Players may use those to make their own custom modes, or even their own mini-games. The half- , half-development platform Roblox is set up like that to encourage its players to create new areas and adventures -- and promote them to other people. Out of a documented 64 million players, over 1.7 million are founders who have been expected to make $30 million over the course of 2017.

Epic could say the same about Fortnite, which owes some of its success into some rabid streaming community which reportedly helped it become the most watched sport on Twitch. Assuming that Fortnite is still popular if the permanent Playground manner comes out, the match's streaming legions will most likely cover all the new maps and experiences players create.
