Semi-final community winners: Up we go!

by C:F Team on 14th April, 2010 at 8:55 AM CEST

Challenge:Future invited teams that were among the semi-finalist community winners, but didn't qualify into the finals, to answer a few questions about their team and their participation in the C:F competition. In the second interview of this series, we'd like to introduce team Up we go!, which participated in the Breakthrough Idea challenge and will also have a team representative (Lucian Croitoru) at the C:F Summit.

Can you briefly introduce each of the members of your team?

"All three of us, Ioana Benjamin, Lucian Croitoru and Robert Ciuchita, are Romanian master students at the School of Business and Economics from Maastricht University, The Netherlands. We all study International Business, Ioana and Robert following Strategic Marketing and Lucian following Strategy and Innovation."

Where did you hear about the C:F competition and why did you decide to participate?

"We heard about the competition from some good friends of ours who are now finalists in Challenge Future. We decided to participate because we found here a challenging international competition in our own area of interest. We were confident in our knowledge and strenghts and we were sure it was going to be a really interesting and helpful experience."

How was your team formed and how did you choose the name?

"We knew each other from the start of the master programme and wanted to base the team on individuals with complementary skills and team player abilities. For the name we made a brainstorming and considered Up We Go! to be the best one because it was simple and it suggested our goal, to go as far as possible."

What was the biggest challenge for your team when you were developing your idea in the semi-finals?

"Our solution received a very high grade from the jury in the first stage of the competition, so we knew that we were on the right track. The challenge was to stick to our main idea but also develop it in such a way so that it differs from other similar businesses we heard about meanwhile. It seems that our view was not enough to take us to the finals."

Will you be participating in the C:F competition again next year?

"We would love to participate again next year, in case we will continue our studies. This is because for some of us, the master programmes will end by then."

What advice would you give to future teams?

"We would advise them to think big because a team is much more than a group of individuals. Believe in your strenghts and you will be closer to your goals."

Anything else you would like to say to the C:F community or your fans?

"The team „Up We Go!” is proud to be part of the Challenge Future community. We hope to keep in touch. Good luck to the finalists!"
