Today we bring you a special report by our member, Jude Christoper Roxas, on yPeace:Youth in Action for Interfaith Dialogue, held in Manila, Philippines on August 30-31, 2010. yPeace is a 2-day workshop where 34 youth leaders and peace makers from all over the Philippines were chosen to participate. Now let Jude tell you about his experience attending this very amazing programme:

What I really love about this conference is the fact that the three major groups here in the Philippines have been represented with participants - Christians, Muslims and the Indigenous People. This is where the idea of interfaith comes into our own consciousness, that we aren’t working only as one Christians, neither as one Muslim group nor as one Indigenous People group, but rather, we are working as persons who are cooperating with each other. We speak to be heard, listen to understand, and we dialogue to have a heart-to-heart conversation instead of debating.

The value of interfaith programmes are very much significant especially when we want to help achieve and maintain peace in our own world. Through interfaith dialogues, we realize that instead of viewing the differences in cultures negatively, we should be open to see the better parts of the other cultures and celebrate together.

When we find ourselves willing to hold each others’ hands for peace and harmony, it won't be long before peace really develops in our hearts and in the world.

(C:F sincerely thank Jude for sharing such a profound experience with us. If you have a story that you would like to share with us, feel free to contact us.)

Thank you guys for letting me share my experiences

I hope that all of us here in C:F will work together for peace and harmony. And let us not forget to invite our own friends and other people too because we need to shape our present and future as we grace the things beforehand.

Let this challenge be kept in our minds and hearts.

:)
