PRME joins Challenge:Future as a Network Partner

by C:F Team on 10th December, 2010 at 4:00 PM CEST

In November 2010, Challenge:Future established partnership with United Nations PRME (Principles for Responsible Management Education) initiative, which purpose is to inspire and champion responsible management education, research and thought leadership globally.

PRME are inspired by internationally accepted values such as the principles of the United Nations Global Compact. They seek to establish a process of continuous improvement among institutions of management education in order to develop a new generation of business leaders capable of managing the complex challenges faced by business and society in the 21st century, with corporate responsibility and sustainability principles being embedded in the mainstream of business-related education. The PRME are therefore a timely global call for business schools and universities worldwide to gradually adapt their curricula, research, teaching methodologies and institutional strategies to the new business challenges and opportunities.

The Principles for Responsible Management Education initiative supports these efforts by:

Providing a framework for business schools and other academic institutions to position themselves as innovators and leaders in integrating sustainability and long-term value creation into management curricula and research.

Giving participants access to a global learning community of like-minded academic leaders and faculties.

Serving as a means to recognize an organization’s efforts to incorporate sustainability and corporate responsibility issues in teaching, research and internal systems.

Developed by an international task force and launched at the 2007 UN Global Compact Leaders Summit in the presence of UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, PRME is coordinated by a Steering Committee consisting of the following organizations:

Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International

European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD)

Aspen Institute Business and Society Program

The Academy for Business in Society (EABIS

Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI

Association of MBAs (AMBA

Latin American Council of Management Schools (CLADEA

Net Impact, and

United Nations Global Compact, which also hosts the PRME Secretariat.

As a Challenge:Future Network Partner, PRME will provide support and expertise in the fields related to responsible business education and help establish even higher outreach and impact of the competition and related projects. Mr. Jonas Haertle, PRME Head of Secretariat, will also be part of the C:F Educators Board, an international panel of education experts and academics supporting C:F development with advising on and governing the transparency of competition, knowledge sharing, annual Educators Forum and university-based local Chapters.
