Nadya's talk at TEDxLjubljanaWomen

And it happened. I participated at the TEDxLjubljanaWomen event on the 8th of December 2010. It was a great experience! I had the chance to watch live broadcast from TEDxWomen in Washington, listen to some of the most amazing women around the world, from researchers to poets, from the most respected policewoman in her community to mothers who lost their sons in the 9/11 events. Their experiences and stories, told in 18 minutes TED talks, comprised entire lives and moments, pain and suffering, happiness and joy, an amalgam of emotions that connected me to the people thousands of miles away. Breathless.

And then it happened again. I had another pleasant surprise. Of course, I knew Nadya Zhexembayeva was the live speaker that evening, but guess what, I didn’t expect it coming. I had some inside information that it’s related somehow to women and on the other hand it has some bits of facts about Challenge:Future, so dear to us all, but it didn’t came close to what I expected it would be. And I’m glad it didn’t. For a talk with a subject like “I have nothing to say about women” I can honestly say it has been the best lesson I’ve had about women. As Nadya put it very well, “sometimes choosing not to say something speaks much louder than saying a whole bunch of things.”

I learned so much about the story of Challenge:Future, about the effort and dedication, the will and determination to turn just a dream into reality. And when I think it all started with a simple and yet crucial question, the kind of question you ask yourself from time to time: “Do you have any hope?”.

Before pushing the play button on Nadya’s speech below and be charged again with positive energy from her optimism and of course, smile, please allow me to share with you the advice she gave in a previous interview to those who want to challenge the future: “Advice I have for women is the same as I have for man: dream big. Make sure to have at least one good laugh every day. Sing in the shower. Do something. And don't forget to call people you love.”

Delighted by this great talk,

Awesome! I was smiling all through the video, as it came to confirm my belief that "women - whether they like it or not, would have to take up actions to care and cater for the world (people - youths inclusive).

Congratulations Nadya. Sure proud to be a part of the project that sets out to answer the question - "Do you have any H.O.P.E ?"
