Get Sparkled with Sparks!

by C:F Team on 8th March, 2011 at 3:56 PM CEST

Sparks are fun, and yet a meaningful way to get engaged within the global C:F Community!

Update: The easiest way to get sparks and vote: Fill in the C:F Survey and get 100 Sparks!

Sparks are points that you receive for your activity on the Challenge:Future platform. Yes, get engaged and we want to hear from you – join the Buzz, join the Community, join the Quick Challenges, join the Main Competition! The more active you are, the more sparks you and your school get.

Why are Sparks important ?

Firstly, Sparks give you a fun way to stay connected and exchange meaningful ideas with your C:F Community. The moment you are in the lead for the number of Sparks, you will get many chances to be a featured C:F member, be nominated or invited for local C:F Chapter initiatives or the Action Teams!

And, if you are the Sparks Winner with the highest number of Sparks on 20 December 2011, you will get to be invited for the Challenge:Future Summit in March 2012 fully sponsored! Want to know how to take a lead in the sparks? Check out all the ways to get involved and be the sparks winner! Or Just ask one of our previous 15 top C:F members by Sparks or even Ioan Dorohov, the Sparks Winner for the Competition 2009-2010.

Getting more sparks also means you are helping your school to be part of the Hall of Fame. This include ten universities, colleges or business schools with the most student activity and achievements in the competition. The school with the total highest number of sparks also gets to be awarded with the Most Innovative School Award. Do check out our Hall of Fame list of 10 institutions in 2009/2010 competition and congratulations to National University of Singapore for winning the Most Innovative School Award.

So are you ready to get sparkled with sparks? To get started, you will need just 50 Sparks to vote in any Quick Challenge or the Main Competition!

Get a head-start with 100 sparks instantly

Pppsssst... wanna know how to get the 50 sparks to support and vote for your favourite ideas? Let us show you instead how you can get almost 200 sparks instantly! Here’s how in just 4 steps...

  1. (30 Sparks) Complete your User Profile and these include your User picture, About me sliders, Personal info (Country, Gender, Birthday), Biography, Likes, Dislikes, Interests!
  2. (20 Sparks) Invite 2 of your friends to C:F and he/she uses the same email to register (be sure to check about the email address with your friend first!)

Continue to lead in the Sparks Marathon

The C:F Sparks system was reset to zero on 23 Feb 2011 and all of us have started right from the Start Line. This marathon will end on 20 December 2011.

Here are some tips to help you stay in the lead for the 10 month long Sparks Marathon!

  • (10 Sparks) Mark another person’s comment as helpful on your solution
  • (20 Sparks) Give helpful and meaningful comments to other teams and get your comments marked as helpful. Give references to other ideas and examples and support another potential idea.
  • (500 Sparks) Vote & Support a futuristic idea! Do you know that by the time you vote for the 500th time you would have gotten a total of 500 Sparks! (up to 200 Sparks) Submit your solutions in the various Quick Challenges
  • (130 Sparks) Visit the C:F Site for 100 consecutive days
  • (100 sparks and more) Apply to be part of a local C:F Chapter or the Action Teams

I would like to propose to add Sparks for every Action Team Leader!! I propose to add the same amount of Sparks as Chapter Presidents.

Action Team leaders will be working in the background gelling teams across timezones, countries entirely virtually without even meeting each of his/her teammates throughout the team period. And this person's huge effort is as challenging as organizing projects in person!

What other activities would you give sparks for and what others you wouldn't? ;-)
