Green Economy Eco-Business Challenge

by C:F Team on 1st June, 2011 at 12:50 PM CEST

We are happy to announce a new challenge on the way. Peace Child International supported by the UN Fund for International Partnerships, UN Development ProgrammeUK Prince's Trust, has launched Green Economy Eco-Business Challenge (GEEBIZ)!

The UN Rio 2012 Conference on Sustainable Development seeks to launch a Green Economy. Rio 2012 marks the moment when the world says good-bye to the old, fossil-fuelled, polluting Brown Economy and greets the new, clean, renewable Green Economy. Business built the Brown economy, and business will build the Green one.

But the youth who will lead and populate those businesses are currently taught little about this generational challenge that awaits them. GEEBIZ is designed to give youth a chance to learn by researching their own business plan or idea on what the Green Economy is, why it’s exciting, and why, potentially, it’s very profitable - especially for the world’s solar rich developing countries.

So get your ideas to work and put them into practice for a future Green Economy! First Round deadline: July 31, 2011.

Awards: Young people who come up with the best ideas, will be rewarded with a trip to New York or Rio de Janeiro to exhibit their idea and showcase it in a workshop in front of UN officials and government negotiators at the Rio2012 Summit.
