HOT Interview with C:F Team, Bistra and Min!

by C:F Team on 8th June, 2011 at 5:59 PM CEST

In a hot and sunny day, in the beautiful city of Ljubljana, there are two passionate challengers with ambitious and adventurous spirit. Let's meet our two new interns, Bistra(B) and Min(M)!

Q1.Any chance to offer us a few words and introduce yourself? Tell us one thing we don´t know about you!

B: My name is Bistra Kumbaroka, I come from Struga, a small town on the coast of beautiful Lake Ohrid in Macedonia. At the moment I am doing my Master Thesis at the Faculty of Economics in Ljubljana. I love life, I love my country, I love nature and most of all, I love people. I relax by reading or writing poetry. Before I go to bed, I often remind myself of Benjamin Franklin’s saying “In life you should either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” I try to stick to that saying.

M: Hello, my name is Jeong-Min, AN. I’m from South Korea, kind of far away from Europe :) I’m an exchange student at the Economic Faculty in Ljubljana. Sometimes I feel lonely and become sentimental, but I am also enjoying lots of things, working within the C:F team, meeting foreign friends, traveling, and relaxing in a hot and sunny summer's day and watching beautiful sunset in the nature.

Q2.How did you bump into C:F and why did you join hands?

B: I got more information about C:F through the international office at the Faculty of Economics. Joining the team was something I looked forward to. I was really persistent and as soon as I scheduled a meeting with Andreja and Olga, we decided to make the most of our mutual cooperation. I find it very positive and very motivational that the team is willing to give such opportunities.

M: It is my first time to work in a real business field, so I was really looking forward to do it. Unfortunately, there is no C:F Chapter in Korea yet and not a lot of information about it. So I was a little bit nervous to be part of C:F team, because I didn't know Challenge:Future before and I wasn't sure I could manage well. Now, I'm enjoying everything about C:F even though sometimes I made mistakes but I always learn from them and also feel I am a real C:F fan and contribute to the team.

Q3. What are you actually working on? Is every day party day in C:F? What are you enjoying the most?

B: C:F is a very demanding environment where obligations range from contacting C:F members to doing business reports. I love that wide range of activities because it allows me to develop my potential in various areas, to learn and to test myself in different situations. I enjoy a lot of things: from getting in the elevator and pressing number 3, to gathering and processing data from the internet. However, most of all, I enjoy the team, the people that I meet every day, the dynamics of the communication and the flow of positive energy in the office.

M: I usually do statistics and surveys. Also I participated in the competition and quick challenges. I enjoye meeting with lots of creative and innovative C:F fans. Most of all I like the tea time with C:F team! It wakes up my brain and relieves tiredness. Around the C:F office there is a green field and pastoral houses and from the I can hear frogs and birds singing. Everyday working at C:F is like Pastoral Symphony!

Q4. What is/was the most important challenge for your life?

B: This is something I have thought about a lot in my life, and I am now glad that I can put it in only few words – my most important challenge in life is to live deliberately.

M: For me, becoming an exchange student was the most important challenge in my life. In Korea, I had a very regular and stable life, so I needed a new  turning point in my life. I've already been backpacking through Europe two years ago, but living in foreign country is completely different from traveling. At first, I have cried, missing my family and friends, but now I got used to everything, even I feel like sLOVEnia is my home country! I want to be a rolling stone, so I would keep challenging new things! I can’t stop!

Q5. How do you think this internship experience will help you in the future? What are top 3 things you learned so far?

B: This internship experience gave me the opportunity to be part of a very unique, international team that has background, knowledge and strong level of motivation. I am experiencing an atmosphere where it is positive to oppose, to develop critical and analytical thinking, to discuss. Differences in opinions are supported and encouraged, and I find that very liberating and inspiring. Another thing that I am still learning is how to cope well with changes. The online platform is a place with certain dynamics, and the team behind it needs to follow, coordinate, and adapt to all the changes. At the end, I would mention one small detail – in C:F I also learned how to enjoy tea :) Although I have been a coffee lover all my life, here I am now, enjoying every morning tea with the team.

M: As a business professional, it helps me to learn using marketing, survey tools and analytics(statistics). But there are more important things, which is developing real business thinking and using creativity to solve issues in different ways. Most of all, C:F motivates and inspires me. By working at C:F, I have changed and made changed my future plans. I was planning to get a job after I graduate like any other Korean university student. There weren't new inspirations or new challenges for myself. However, now I've decided to prepare applying to a business school in northern Europe! It doesn’t matter if I succeed or not because I have a new dream and a new challenge!

Q6. What do you want to tell our C:F fans?

B: My advice is: Get online and make the most of this community. Don’t hesitate, and don’t have second thoughts. This is the place where you can get real opportunities, exposure to different culture, chances to meet mentors, experts or people that inspire you. Don’t be afraid to think. Don’t be afraid to share your ideas. Remember: “Individually, we are one drop. Together, we are an ocean” (R. Satoro) Let’s be the change we want to see.

M: There are three minds(心),I always like to keep in my mind; One's first resolution(初心), Enthusiasm(熱心), Endurance(後心). I’m sure, if we always keep these minds with ourselves, everything will work for all. I hope there will be a C:F Chapter in Korea so that other Korean youth can get involved in the creative and innovative world of Challenge:Future. See you in the future.
