YOUTH 4 youth: Change is now! Winners are here!

by C:F Team on 8th February, 2012 at 8:03 PM CEST

The competition beyond other C:F competitions so far, C:F Change YOUTH 4 youth, has come to its end. And we know, you would agree, that the end is just the beggining of many impacts to be made. Let’s not get into philosophical discussions now, we know most of you are impatient to hear who are the winners of this unique challenge.

After announcing, the 20 finalists of Y4Y, they have been asked to put their ideas into social business models and prove to generate impacts with their social projects. To measure the impact, plan it and predict it - for sure was not an easy task. But 19 out of 21 finalists took the challenge and made it to the next round providing the expert judges with engaging plans, resourceful research, realistic value chains and measurable social impact indicators. An experience worthwhile!

"Overall, the projects were all well structured. Not all had clear vision of viable and scalable business or evidence of previous success, however they were all full of youth enthusiasm and willingness to make the social impact reality" - the judges said.

And the winners are...

(drums please)

Laura Garlo with Mmofra Trom Bead Project  - “Great project that is shown to be working and already proves its impact. Well structured and well implemented!” - the judges added.

• Laurence Lloyd Lumagbas with Revo Rangers - “Interesting and unique projects, very well structured proposal. Further questions regarding reliability of the numbers, revenue streams, and the quality of the services. Well done!” - the judges commented.

Antoaneta Ivanova with Modern Bakery - “Good target group, approach, labelling, business model, scalability. The financial model is to be developed further, however the project is a very good example of social entrepreneurship model that is easily applicable in all countries where underprivileged Roma people live.” - the judges said.

Jennifer Ali with a project Heaven on Earth - “Unusual and very interesting  topic. The project targets a particularly vulnerable group in Pakistan. The social impacts and financial plannings should be taken to the next level,” the judges commented.

(Update) After long hours of debate, judges have decided on the fifth YOUTH 4 youth winner. Congratulations go to:

• Francis Xavier Asiimwe with the project Help from the Sun for Karamoja Youths - "Sensible idea with original and well build team. However, the success will depend on the reception on the local people. The downfall - it doesn't fully follow the guidelines of the competition"

All the winners will join us at Challenge:Future Summit 2012 in Bled and will have the chance to present their ideas in front of an audience of talented students, business experts, social venture capitalists and academic professors.

To all of you, who took part and shared your projects, we want to congratulate you for being part of a journey that is certainly not ending here. C:F Change YOUTH 4 youth is not a competition with a starting and ending date. It is a dedication for life.

We will continue working together to make this world a better place for all. Have a say in future, help shaping Challenge:Future.

Thank you very much to the Challenge Future Action Team! Your dedication, professionalism and promptness in answering our queries regarding the competition impressed not only me but every confused and lost participant. I would also like to acknowledge every contributor who posted their ideas for the Youth for Youth competition. All 100 ideas are inspiring, engaging and dynamic! This Challenge Future think tank is the perfect platform to jump-start our ideas and make them a reality. Congratulations to all the other winners and finalists who worked hard in developing their project plans. Let's continue to do what this whole competition and online platform is all about - to challenge the future, to inspire the youth and to instigate the change we want for our world.
