Are you looking for an internship at UN? Or maybe are you a young social entrepreneur or have a great sustainable business idea? Here are two great opportunities from our partners

1. (UNDSS) Internship Programme

The UNDSS (UN Department of Safety and Security) provides opportunities for students enrolled in a graduate programme to undertake an internship at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, Geneva, Vienna, Beijing, Bangkok or Santiago. The purpose of the UNDSS Internship Programme is

• to provide a framework by which graduate and postgraduate students from diverse academic backgrounds may be assigned to United Nations Offices where their educational experience can be enhanced through practical work assignments.

• to expose them to the work of the United Nations.

• to gain experience in the work of the Organization with the objective of deepening their knowledge and understanding of the United Nations’ goals, principles and activities.

• to provide UN offices with the assistance of highly qualified students specialized in various professional fields.

You are the perfect candidate for the Internship Programme if:

1. You are currently enrolled in a Master or PhD (or similar programme) and will be during the entire internship.

2. You are able to obtain the necessary visa and to arrange your travel to the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

3. You are able to cover the costs of travel, accommodation, living expenses of the internship (approx. US$5,000) as well as medical insurance.

4. You are able to communicate well in English.

How to apply?

Interested and qualified applicants should send their application to internship@un-dss.org. Deadlines for application will vary based on departments' needs and availability. No application will be accepted after a deadline 16th March,2013.

2. Ashoka and Ben & Jerry seeks young social entrepreneurs - 10.000€ for the winners

Ben & Jerry's are on the hunt for 9 social entrepreneurs around Europe who share their CORE values and want to make a difference.

• Are you a social entrepreneur? Is there long-term demand for your product or service? (If so, great! Your idea demonstrates strong financial sustainability!)

• Will your model leave society better off for the next generation? (It does? Hurrah! Your idea demonstrates a positive social impact).

• Does your business idea ensure the local and global environment is looked after, so today’s and tomorrow’s children can all enjoy the beauty of the planet...? (If yes, fantastic! I’m picking up an ‘environmental awareness’ vibe from your idea, and I like it!)

• Is your approach substantially different from similar initiatives in your field? (If so, superb! This is the knock out test for innovation!)

18 bright sparks will be invited to London for the 11-12th of June to pitch their sustainable business ideas to our panel of expert Judges, including our co-founder Jerry Greenfield, when the 9 winners will be announced! Out in Vermont, the winners will be immersed in the world of Ben & Jerry’s, where it aaaall started back in 1978.

The following criteria apply:

• Applicants must be the sole or co-founder, aged 18-34.

• Applicants must be beyond ideas stage – must already be achieving social impact. Your organization must incorporate social, environmental and financial sustainability into its business model.

• Applicants must be resident in one of the nine competition countries: United Kingdom, Ireland, Netherlands, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Finland, Sweden, and Denmark. Your beneficiaries or customers can be anywhere in the world.

The winner gets 10.000€ for his project, his company's name on the new Ben & Jerry's ice-cream, 6 months of Ashoka coaching, and a trip to Vermont (USA).

The applicants can apply online via www.joinourcore.com.

Best of luck,
