Leading Change 2013

The Youth Republic, Award-Winning Global Youth Network, Runner Up World Summit Youth Award 2012, successfully organized Leading Change 2013 on 23rd June, in Karachi, Pakistan holding theme: “Think.Do.Impact”, inspired by Challenge Future, with Event Partners from three different countries of the world, Catalyst in Communities and Brighter Steppings from UK, Laura Thomas Communications from Canada, GISAK with CSWA and Treening from Pakistan. The prominent renowned personality with leadership roles, whom youth consider an inspiration, Guest of HonorMr. Shamez Mukhi multiplied the impact of Leading Change 2013 by noteworthy words on the importance of professionalism in voluntary services and the role of a leader in critical decision making. Also the objective of, Young Hero Achievement Awards and Young Leader Awards was doubled by his presence.

The impact of Event was further enhanced by appearance of two notable personalities in the Event, Guest of Honor Mr. Tariq Mahmood Khalidi and Guest of Honor Dr. Pir Muazzam Shah who are a source of inspiration for youth to shine in true essence of Think.Do.Impact.

Participants and young leaders in Leading Change 2013, learned about social media & ICTs for social impact, team building, youth opportunities, career counseling, international representation and concrete actions for tangible impact.

The event kicked off with a welcome note, followed by activities and achievements of TYR which was further powered by International Representation, giving a wonderful message to the audience about how ICTs can be used for social impact.

Five international personalities made their appearance in Leading Change 2013 via videos, which was marked phenomenal inclusion in the Event. Robin Lockhart, Director Catalyst in Communities UK gave message of diversity which was appreciated by the audience, and then came a message of thinking, doing and impacting from Seun Oshinaike, Co-Founder Brighter Steppings UK. Young leaders observed the idea of International Representation as full of learning.

Jatin Kataria, Strategist, Speaker, Thinker, Social Activist, GloCal Connector and Writer from India gave many beautiful messages to the young leaders among which “thinking what you will not do is also important” still flashes in minds, as before starting a project the focus is only observed on actions which will be followed neglecting the fact which actions will not be followed, Jatin with his wonderful message sparked up the minds of young people.

And appeared Zankrut Oza, Co-Founder “On the Rocks” which is a branding and advertising agency from India shared his journey of entrepreneurship to what makes a successful entrepreneur, which was a bunch of learning.

Laura Thomas, Founder of Laura Thomas Communications from Canada, talked about writing opportunities and importance of good writing skills for young people.

Leading Change 2013 was then followed by a fantastic Act by Little Champ Group who performed an act with a Key message: “staying healthy”. This was a blend of fun and meaning part of Think.Do.Impact!

Challenge Future was presented as an opportunity for young people who are willing to impact today and invent the future. Many international opportunities were shared in the session, Expert Talk: Think.Do.Impact conducted by Hina Hazrat, CF Representative & Founder – The Youth Republic, starting from opportunities in social media to running own projects and helping societies was full of learning experience.

Session “Win the Race” executed by Zohair Allibhoy, Treening was full of energy, dedication and enthusiasm totally significant in diffusing energy of winning in premises via fun and learning.

Young Hero Achievement Awards for the first time launched by The Youth Republic motivated young achievers of Pakistan. This year four high achievers were the recipients of Young Hero Achievement Awards by notable Guest of Honor Mr. Shamez Mukhi, namely: 1- Aisar Ali S/O Shakoor Ali from Gojal: 1st Position Distinction Holder in AKU-EB-HSSC Exams 2007-09 from overall Pakistan. Distinction Holder in Subjects of Banking, English and Commercial Geography in HSSC Exams 2007- 09 and also achieved Full bright GRE Scholarship. 2- Farhat Naz D/O Islamuddin from Chitral: Secured 3rd position in Sindh Nursing Examination Board, Scholarship holder for academic year 2009 & 2010 and Distinction holder in Psychiatric Nursing and Pediatric Nursing. 3- Ali Amir S/O Amir Khan from Chitral: Represented Pakistan & played game in Bangladesh, Sri Lanka and Qatar. He is a Brown Medalist, represented Pakistan in Asian Championship in Sri Lanka & stood holder of Silver Medal. 4- Amir Ali S/O Jandullah Khan from Chitral: Gold Medalist of session 2008-2010, Department of Physics, University of Karachi.

Young Leader Awards, Best Team TYR Awards, Young Artist Awards, and Support Awards were also distributed among outstanding young leaders and event supporters by Guest of Honor Mr. Tariq Mahmood Khalidi and Guest of Honor Dr. Pir Muazzam Shah. Career counseling session conducted by Mr. Fayyaz Khan, notable Speaker at Leading Change 2013 was successful in spreading fruitful information regarding career in terms of knowing more about different fields.

Leading Change 2013 then had live performance of three amazing artists, Natasha Baig (Singer) who successfully made her appearance to the wonderful stage of Cornetto Music Icons, Irfan Ali Bahadur(Singer) a musicology student at NAPA and Sylvester Jacob (Guitarist).

The event had special presence of notable personalities, Dr. Naila UsmanMs. Rana TehseenMr. Muhammad Rizwan KhanMr. Uzair Ahmed Ansari, Ms. Mukee Mayur and Mr. Ibrahim Shah.
