Art of Resistance

by Anatoliy Biliciler on 17th December, 2013 at 8:50 PM CEST

Life is not fair, good people die and bad people win and I won’t tell you to just pretend like it is not because 1. It isn’t 2. It is getting worse. (Explosion at boston 3 people die, whole world bursts into tears while in Middle East people die by dozens a day none lifts a finger). This is unfortunately in almost every part of the human life by that i mean people are judging events and people based on emotions or the things that do not matter in the end. Think of the Susan Boyle’s performance in britain got talent.(If you haven’t seen it,there is a video on youtube. Note: Beware the ninjas slicing onions while watching)

Do you see how even the professional judges judged her and laughed at her before she started her performance? Now, if people can do that in front of millions imagine what would they do if there were no consequences of who they chose or why. Which is the case in most of contests which award money for an idea or a project. I believe most of you have been in the situation where in a science fair, a project which had no potential won the first place even though another one was objectively better. Let me tell you why what happens: Subjective judgement and conflict of interest.

Now, I do not wish to make a claim that some contests are organised not to find a solution to a problem but for publicity and the judges avoid projects with high potential because that would lead to media overexposure but no matter how you look at it something is not right.

One must ask though, is it right to just say: ”Judges aren’t fair so i shouldn’t even bother”? If what you wish is the prize money then yes but if you wish to improve your ability to engineer a solution then even thinking about it is a mistake.

Finding a solution can be tough, it is even tougher when it is not accepted even if you are right. In those cases you just need to say “The show must go on” and find what was wrong and/or can be done better.I have discovered that, resisting is done best when one has a purpose and knows the reason of the suffering, such is the Art of Resistance. Resist, improve and your time shall come.
