Amplifying our voice: Manifesto of Youth Generation 'Lost'?

by Stefan Alievikj on 15th March, 2014 at 3:19 PM CEST

My human dream, I am often repeating these three words, like a mantra sometimes... what makes a human dream? How can we pin down the most essential that maybe makes the human being what it is. These three words comprise within so much meaning. That meaning is accumulated through each century mankind has gone through. Our earlier ancestors had their own human dreams. They did wonders. They developed separate cultures and civilizations that we are very well aware of today. They traded for better goods and resources. An endless years of inventions and endless years of gaining knowledge; generation after generation - they all had their own dreams. "The lost generation" as a term was probably firstly used between the two World Wars, as the WWI was a-never-seen-civilizations-shock before. It was a birth of generation whose values were all gone in decay. No values were connected to Generation Lost back then…

Shifting the paradigm, shifting the rhythm with the most advanced technologies ever seen, and living in the less violent times on the planet ever possible – no barbarians, just more culture; yet the challenges may look greater than ever before, why then we suffer so violently and we end up with our heads in such 'mental cages'? Even speculation for WWIII cannot go unnoticed on a daily basis. But, we are asking today is it too late for changes? All our cultural nurture, all our research, all our inventions, all our striving through the neo-capitalism have brought us to the inevitable edge: What else is there? Where was the gap made? Why the new youth generations of today are so different than the older generations? Why OUR generation started being labeled so often “the new lost generation” or “the generation sacrificed”? It was not any war this time. The values are built. But it was I can guess too much technological progress; too much positive discrimination maybe; too much of modern society; too much of the greed that we have started to lose ourselves. Progress, progress, progress… going faster, faster and only faster; is that the reason so we possibly earned this label?

Our generation knows better. Our generation maybe misses just the defining of own human voice; the defining of own human dreams. I for one have this dream that we stop a bit, that we don’t run such a fast runaway, as we are not sure in which direction this runaway our parents embarked to, where it leads. My human dream is that we stop and go over a bit through the recent decades. Big portion of my generation has an empty American dream of owning a house, of owning a wallet full of money, of owning a car. I do not have such a dream. It’s all plastic. It’s catchy, but that’s the greed. I’ve learnt better.

This was also the main reason behind for why the inception of The Wilde Dreams Chronicles. Today, we add the fourth piece to these wilde chronicles.
What is it that makes us go beyond the labeled identity of "generation lost"? First thing for sure, we are here all future-challengers, but what are some of our features? Let's go through some points, and in comments you are more than welcome to number down some other features... Only through your contribution and interaction this text can gain 'manifestal' character.

1.  We are generation explorers...
Why? Because we are "programmed" to be much more curious than our parents. Because we are programmed to show interest in everything, to question everything; to see everything from multiple points of view. Because we were the first ones to be raised with so much technology. It has helped us nurture special type of curiosity when it comes to playing, researching, memorizing things... our brains work different now. One of the best way to channel these abilities as a generation is in terms of exploration. This generation holds the potential to make all things transparent.. when it comes to coruption, wars, extra-terestrial life, hidden human capabilities and abilities; this genertion goes beyond the stereotyping that its "parent generation" got stuck in for so many years globally...

2. We are the "Lift me up" generation...
Never before we have been more aware how plain talking of politicians and institutions have taken us so far in 'hell'. We are more than aware today what is the damage of bad dialogues. This is the generation with potential to lift things up higher on a totally different level... this generation can offer a deeper understanding of the world problems, as much as it can be so silent about them. It's tricky how it all works. Dear politicians, institutions, some of you are open to free the space for the youth, but we the youth, we advise you to open the floor fully, as it is our future you are trying to spoil. Your time for full retirement is coming.
The danger here is that we might fall in the trap and inherit all-the-bad-sides of our parents generation who failed in big percentage to establish good role models. Happily, it's not so dark, as we got a great number of good role models as well. We need as a generation to channel and inherit habits from those good role models... thus, let's keep our eyes wide open.

3. Generation Renewable...
Because this generation will "renew" the world. As simply as we 'relaunch' our computers so they work better and faster, it is how we need to 'relaunch' humanity. Because, one country in the world already has managed to establish 100% production of electricity by using only renewable sources. It's Iceland and we need the whole planet to follow the example that Iceland gives here... because if we are to constantly 'relaunch/restart humanity', we are to come to point where we will have no more capacity to do the same again... because the whole system will start to fail as a broken computer that restarts 100 times before the 'official' collapse. In the end some parts will get burnt... we can still replace them... but do we want a planet whose 'parts' are constantly 'replaced'?

4. Mutual core generation...
This generation will either form a mutual core and establish the exit out of corruptions, of wars, of too much greed OR will fail at the same. But if we fail in exiting out this constellation of global events in the years to come; if we fail now to form a mutual core, we will fail as a generation. it's all up to us... we can be ordinary apart, but for sure we can be extraordinary together.

We are generation extreme!
Meant to explore the bounds the predecessors but only imagined, meant to observe and reshape the edges forged by times before. Meant to deliver a balance to this world based on our most dependable findings and chart a new course for sustainability as we see fit.

Yes, I agree with Nurudeen - Generation Extreme.

There are too many unfortunate world altering events that have occurred during our time being young in the world, and after we're not so young anymore, the "new young" will come up. We need to take more responsibility and push against the tag "lost", because if anything has been made clearly, is that the future wouldn't be as bright as it could possibly be without us making it shine

Udoka, Nurudeen we can elaborate this conjunction of "generation extreme" furthermore through Growr and Action Team forum. Can we establish "Generation Extreme" as official name? Let's think, brainstorm, research more in this direction and come up with official new publication for this.
Also, let's see suggestions and comments from others. This is exactly the point of this article.. crowd-sourcing and reaching best suggestion:)

Society is more rationale now , but industrial revolution and boom made our minds infertile, our education system is producing skilled labor rather than visionary, creative youth. We are living in the age where education is the way to get jobs. Nowadays we need that old slogan of Renaissance of 15th century, to revive classical antiquity.
