Why should Young People Stand for the Peace?

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that."
(Martin Luther King, Jr.)

I believe Peace can only be achieved without wars and by non-violent actions. We might first think that resolution of conflict can be occurred by using violence and force. If we see the history, wars always led us to more dangerous consequences. It endangered the living on planet. The concept of wars should be demolished now. It's enough for the world suffered with the destruction of and by mankind.

Reflecting on some personal stories I have pinned many reason which motivated me to go for peace activities. In 2005, I was the victim of massive earthquake in Pakistan. 2009 and 2010 were the years when suicide bombings have had paralyzed the normal flow of life in my country. In the earthquake we lost many loved ones, many were wounded... it have stimulated me to join Pakistan Red Crescent Society. After the events in 2009/2010 I have taken part of Emergency Response Teams administrating first Aid ans search and rescue operation in the wake of attacks.. I feel that it is our big responsibility that we play an active part in reshaping and mobilizing communities for good. Or how beautifully Mother Teresahas said, "If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other." Let's not forget that we the human beings belong to each other. Peace can never be achieved until the people living in the advanced countries don't feel the pain and sufferings of the people living in the third word or deprived countries.

According to the UNFPA, YOUTH comprises 1.8 billion and make up one quarter of the total population of the world. This IS the great strength of the world which can drive the world from darkness to light. Young people can even pull the stars down if they utilize their potentials and strengths. Young People should possess great compassionate skills to undermine the hatred and challenge the animosity to promote peace. Some of the skills that comes in my mind promptly includes self-compassion, empathy, mindfulness, humbleness, humanity, gratitude, courage and truthfulness. They are the things that every young man should be armed with to bring the peace, feel the peace , achieve the peace and share the peace. Young people provide the leadership that lead the nation to the heights of self determination, integrity and courage. If the young people of any nation are lazy for a positive change, then the foundations of the nations are getting ruined.

"Parinday: Indo-Pak Friendship" Parindaybegun when co-founders Hina Hazrat & Jatin Kataria explored possibilities of doing something for Indo-Pak friendship in February 2012. This project is ALIVE since more than a year where young people did pilot activities within group of friends. These kind of projects and remarkable contributions of the Young people from both countries are enlightening examples to eradicate hate and plant the peace and love in the hearts of youth of both countries.

What's happening in Syria, Palestine, Kashmir, Ukraine and other part of the world will always leave you saddened. There is dire need of resolving these conflicts with the help of UN as mediator. Conflict resolution is conceptualized as the methods and processes involved in facilitating the peaceful ending of conflict and retribution. Ultimately, a wide range of methods and procedures for addressing conflict exist, including but not limited to, negotiation, mediation, diplomacy, and creative peacebuilding. Peacebuilding is a term describing interventions that are designed to prevent the start or resumption of violent conflict by creating a sustainable peace. Peacebuilding activities address the root causes or potential causes of violence, create a societal expectation for peaceful conflict resolution and stabilize society politically and socioeconomically.

Finally, during writing this article, I have asked some of my friends to share their thoughts on the importance and the need of Peace to the YOUNG people today! Some of the responds are as they follow...

"The amazing youth of our World must organize and collaborate more GLOCALLY to become an unstoppable force for Peace so we can dismantle the current corrupt, unjust and destructive systems that lead to conflict, war, poverty, hopelessness, crime and terrorism. and division that is propagated by a few and only serves them while harming and destroying everyone else," Todd Shea, Founder & CEO of CDRS (Comprehensive Disaster Response Services)

"Without peace you can not progress as a society. Minds that are clear of anger and fear can be filled with love and compassion. I am fortunate to live in a safe area of the world. I still believe that even when people live in a state of peace it is their obligation to help their brothers and sisters in other nations enjoy that same feeling. It is important to recognize that all young people have unique skills that they can use to meet the needs of those who are not in a peaceful state. Young people must first listen to the voice of the community in need. Then they need to orient themselves with what is occurring in order to achieve meaningful action." Dan Coviello, UN Youth Representative

"The children and youth are the future in present. We all want a peaceful world I believe, so therefore they should stand for Peace. To save our earth." Christina Anderson, Head Representative at World Peace Committee

"Adults are so fixed in their ways and many are not open to change. The youth will take their place in the future so we must focus on them and unite them for our common purpose of PEACE." Timothy Peace John-Baptiste, Director at TIME 4 WORLD PEACE

"The youth who are in majority of the population in our country and many countries, if they can come together to bring all the young & positive energies and rise above through peace within them, they will then be able to give it to the rest, the rest will give it to others and our coming generations." Bilal Masood, Founder at Crossing Borders

Let's not only sit and wait for the peace, lets stand up for the peace. Let's join hands together to resolve the most disputed issues of the world and give our coming generations a better place to live. All we have to do it to play our roles positively, share the pains and grieves of fellow human beings, serve the humanity and challenge the hatred and enmity. Let's stand for the education, empowerment and prosperity of all the people in this world and understand that we belong to each other and have to play our role for Gender Equality, Peace and Stability of the Planet Earth.

I want a world where everyone enjoy basic human rights, gender-equality, opportunities and no one could be victimized and discriminated on the basis of color, races, religions... Peace be with you, your loved ones, friends & families and everyone around the planet.
