2015 in a nutshell

by CF Team on 20th December, 2015 at 1:22 PM CEST

Dear CF-ers

This is yet another letter from CF Editors and on behalf the whole CF Team. The year of 2015 is almost over and before we close the circle, before we finish the intricate patterns of our mandala, before it’s time to have the sand of our 2015 mandala brushed together into a pile, we like to reflect on what this year meant for the community and for the world

More than 300,000 youth reached with 50+ authentic Growr tips

2015 started with our community driven challenge – My best advice to you for 2015, where peers to peers competed with their best tips for Growr, our arising project throughout all 2015. 7 winners were selected from 7 different countries who amazed the judges with their creativity, wisdom and experience they had to share.  Congrats once again to Belma Alispahic (Bosnia and Herzegovina), Dimitrios Gkinis (Greece), Lidija Globokar (Slovenia /Germany),  Uliana Cheliuskina (Ukraine), Barbara Babic (Croatia), Shravya Gunipudi (India) who made the good start for Growr in the year 2015 and shared amazing food-for-though via original social-media contents. As it did in 2014, Growr also reserved space for global experts, professors, researchers and eminent leaders to share igniting tips for the global youth of Challenge:Future and Growr; to name few, and say special thanks to Nurete Brenner (Ph.D, Educator and Director of the MBA program at Ursuline College in Ohio); Andreja Kodrin  (CF founder, CF president 2009-2014);  Marcela Fernández (founder of ON BOARD http://beonboard.org/  and CF friend), Fabio Giomi (Ph.D and researchers at CETOBAC-EHESS, Paris), Evaldas Rupkus (Expert from the International Youth Service of the Federal Republic of Germany), Metka Tekavcic (Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Ljubljana, CF board member), Mark Beattie (Program coordinator and Clinical Assistant Professor at www.everett.wsu.edu).

All Growr authors managed to reach an amazing audience of more than 300,000 young people over the globe, and that would have not been made possible without the efforts of the Growr co-directors: Stefan Alijevikj(Macedonia) who also acts as the CF VP of Community; Jatin Kataria (India) whom also launched this year in India the GloCal co-working space, and Hayley Lapalme (Canada) , CF Strategist. Later this year, this team was joined by Silviya Dineva (Bulgaria) who came as the fourth co-director in the Growr board.

Last but not least, Growr is place for coexistence and co-creation of the leaders and the community. Therefor, the open opportunity to still jump in the leadership roles from our running challenge, My Best Buddy at Growr: http://www.challengefuture.org/quick/62

The 100$ challenges

The youth of Challenge:Future also brought other challenges for the community, including the special editions of the 100$ challenges that funded small actions and events in Macedonia to Viktorija Spendzarska (The Vertical Garden Project) and the Philippines to Danna Joyce Perez(the Community Outreach Program). The edition will be encircled with the final 100$ challenge that will award the best solution, or the best answer that you can give on the Future of migration and in context the current global migrant crisis: http://www.challengefuture.org/quick/64

New Youth Board and newly launched program – CF IMPACT

2015 also meant an reinvention year for the Challenge:Future community. It reintroduced the youth advisory board http://www.challengefuture.org/community/YAB/ with new members from all corners of the world, who along with Nadya Zhexembayeva, CF president as of 2015, initiated the CF IMPACT program:  http://www.challengefuture.org/news/817

Several IMPACT directorship programs were initiated in the second half of 2015, and we hope for their successful growth over the next year of 2016. We want to especially congratulate first to Seema Bansal (India) who undertook the CF Creative Contents Directorship and secondly to Nubi Kay (Nigeria), who undertook the Directorship of the Future Book 2: Vision 2050 project. We wish mindfulness to all leaders under this program in 2016, old and new, to reach new heights with their success and dedication.

Last but not least, special thanks to Olga Veligurska and Metka Ule Novak - part of the CF management board, but as well Faisal Imtiaz and Damla Aktan - one of the most recognizble community members, for the continual support, and the fresh ideas which they brought in  our overal activities of 2015.

A Challenge:Future challenge

Let's also not forget. At the end of October, 2015, the Challenge:Future and the Growr platforms were subjected to a hack attack, thus we were made to suspend all our platform activties for a full month. Thanks for everyone who sticked with us in this period, but especially thanks to Ales Maticic and Matjaz Krajnc who fixed the problems and made both the platform live again.

The world in 2015

For the world, 2015 has been an exceptional and challenging year, but now almost behind us. In 2015, we witnessed the uprising of a global migrant crisis, a consequence to the many war-torn countries. Let's radiate peace from our hearts in 2016, to act more smart and with more mindfulness as a humanity. We were able to follow through heartbreaking stories of migrants, refuges, of common people who were made to arduous journeys  in search of better lives and better opportunities for life. Let 2016 be a year where we can deepen our knowledge and especially our empathy as a way to act towards peace on the planet.

We would like to finally wish you a good entrance in the New Year, a happy and joyous 2016 ahead. Let’s ignite the best ideas, the best collaboration, and make the best of it.

Before we are all done, let’s brush into a pile the sand of our mandala - let us throw it in a running water so we get its blessing! J

Sending you warmest hugs
