Planetary Boundaries - tvebiomovies

Across the globe, vulnerable habitats and endangered species need protection more than ever before. People are using more natural resources than our planet can replace. And the threat posed by climate change continues to grow. We’re facing widespread wildlife extinction and the breakdown of our most important natural systems – unless we urgently work together for change. To stop the degradation of the planet’s natural environment, and build a future in which people live in harmony with nature, we need to communicate the beauty of species, as well as forests, oceans and other habitats. And we need to champion ways of living more sustainably.

The planetary boundaries framework, proposed by a group of scientists led by Johan Rockström from the Stockholm Resilience Centre and Will Steffen from the Australian National University, identifies nine key areas and sets limits within which we must stay for humans to live in harmony on the planet and with the rest of nature.  The framework helps us to identify key areas where we need further action to preserve the natural world.

tvebiomovies is open to anyone around the world with access to a computer, smartphone or camera. Through this global film competition, now in its seventh year, you can showcase your filmmaking talents and inspire others with your actions for the environment and sustainability. We invite challenge:Future community members to grab their camera and participate in this competition, as we do believe that YOU have amazing storytelling skills to address the challenges tied with the planetary boundaries on Earth.

You’ll have a chance to win one of the competition's fabulous prizes – including a trip to the COP in Marrakech, Morocco, to work in the UNFCCC newsroom – and to tell the vital story of our planet today.

Telling this story is more urgent than ever. Every day, the world uses more natural resources than our planet can replace. Wildlife is fast growing extinct and our most important natural systems are breaking down. How do we turn around this degradation of our planet? We can champion ways of living more sustainably – and we can tell people about it.

The theme for tvebiomovies 2016 is the planetary boundaries, about living within the earth’s limits. The competition is about you, sharing your ideas of the actions we must take, the ways we must live and how we must value the planet we share.

tvebiomovies 2016 is now open and the deadline for entries is 23:00 GMT on 19 August.

More information on how you can enter this competition is available at the official webpage here
